Changes to driving licences (Counter Part Licence)

From January 2015, DVLA will no longer issue the paper counterpart to the photocard driving licence.

So what will this mean to us as drivers? Not a lot really, all our details will be held by the DVLA and it has been advised that there will be a system which insurers, employers and the police will have accessible to. This will allow us as a insurance broker to check your motoring convictions on your behalf.

This will assist with a few things;

  •  Renewals – motoring convictions can be updated without the need of you remembering to call up and advise us.
  • New Policies – “What date was that speeding?” the system will know automatically
  • Additional Drivers – not sure if they have any motoring convictions

There is one downside… you need to have your driving licence number, and the licence number for all

Drivers, when you are getting quotes.
